Lived up to expectation

We have just returned from a weekend break at the SE and we had a great time. After booking I contacted the hotel to ask whether I could get a room with a view of the Arc de Triomphe. The reply was that it was unlikely but they would see what they could do so we were very very pleased to get rm 207 which is the corner room over looking the Arc. It is an amazing room. For Paris standards it is very big and the bathroom was fantastic but it is the view that makes it so special, espcially at night. There is no traffic noise due to the sound proofing and the air con is quiet and efficient.
The staff are very helpful and although their English was perfect they were quite happy to indulge our rusty attempts to speak French.
The hotel is across the road from the Metro and RER station providing easy access from the airport and the Gare de Nord.
At the bottom of the hill in Ave Carnot there is an excellent patisserie which does superb coffee and croissants for a fraction of the price of the restaurants.
We ate in the Beer Station restaurant which is one block away behind the Emperour Restaurant. We were so pleased with it we went back as did others.
In our opinion it deserves its good review and we will stay there again when next in Paris.
