Not a better choice in Paris

After a semi-disastrous stay out in La Defense, my wife and I moved to the Splendid Etoile based on reviews here. We couldn’t have made a better choice.
A couple of things to be aware of… Like most European rooms, the bed is two twins pushed together and they are a bit low, but not uncomfortable. The pillows were a bit flat, so we got a couple of more, and the AC doesn’t work, but they brought us a fan.
Having said that, we were in room 505, the top floor that has balconies (there is a 6th floor). Our balcony gave us a wonderful view and the white noise of the traffic and night breezes made for great sleeping. (closing the two double-doors eliminated all but the loudest noises)
You can step out the front door to an elevator to the metro/RER station (Charles de Gaulle Etoile). An RER train and two metro lines go through here, making it extremely convenient.
Less than 50 meters away is a convenience store to get water, sodas, fruit or snacks that made it highly convenient.
The service is just superb. The staff is incredibly gracious and accommodating. When we asked about the AC, they explained it didn’t work and there was a fan in our room when we came back. The concierge, bellman and desk people are all wonderful.
The room itself is spacious, a nice size bathroom, a tub/shower with an adjustable spray head that can be hand held, incredible water pressure and scalding heat if needed. The closet is spacious and there’s plenty of room for your luggage. A flat screen TV with three news channels in English, they don’t have in-room movies, but we didn’t miss them.
There is in-room wired internet for 14 euros / day. There’s also an Orange France hot-spot with a 98% signal that you can use with subscriber plans like T-Mobile.
For price, location and convenience I just can’t see how it can get better than this.
