Just returned from a week long stay in Paris and at the Splendid Etoile Hotel. Had a fantastic time!!! The Splendid Etoile was clean, comfortable and quiet. Farook at the front desk was super friendly, helpful and spoke great english. It is a great location as the Air France bus drops you off right across the street from the hotel front door, we could see the Arc de Triumph out of our window and the hop on/hop off bus has a stop just on the other side of the roundabout. Secondly, don’t let people tell you Paris is soo expensive - it is as expensive as you want to make it. We would eat our breakfast along the Champs at Paul (a patisserie) 3 coissants/2 grand coffees just under 10.00 euro - sandwiches there around 5 euro each. Easy to find lunch for 9 to 11 euro each. Remeber the food quality is great for the price that you pay. The drinks of any kind are pricey. It seemed any museum was around 7.50 euro each to get in (to see Monet’s, Van Gogh’s, Rembrandt’s, DaVinci’s!!!). We found the audio guides at 5 euro each helpful (shared). We found alot of english spoken along the Champs but much less off that street. But who cares! Try your hand at the French, so what if you butcher it at least you are trying and they appreciate the effort, and it’s fun! Prepare to walk alot which we found great because there is so much to see along the way that before you know it you’ve walked 3 miles! We are already planning our next trip!
